Six teams, eightcourts, one longWednesday.

BUCS fixtures run Wednesday afternoons through both terms, with trials in the first fortnight. Below that sits the internal ladder, coached training four nights a week, and a kit bag that is genuinely quite good this year.

Marcus holds an England Squash level 2 and takes Thursday squad sessions plus fortnightly beginner clinics.

Player-led drills

Team players run short technical blocks at open nights — ghosting, length drills, and the volley nobody can hit yet.

One-to-one

Subsidised private coaching, roughly £12 for half an hour. Sign up through the WhatsApp group.

Ladders & internals

The box league

Everyone gets put in a box of five players at roughly their level. You have three weeks to play the other four, whenever suits you both. Win your box, go up; finish bottom, go down. Sixty-five people entered last round.

It is the easiest way to get regular games without committing to a fixed session, and the fastest way to improve.

Club championship

One-day knockout in week eight of term two. Graded draws, so beginners play beginners.

Doubles night

End-of-term doubles on the big court. Chaotic, mildly dangerous, extremely popular.

Handicap cup

Points handicaps set by the ladder, so any member can win it. Last year a first-timer did.
